I remember watching them play in the water as Mom and Dad sat on the rocks and watched. Talking quietly to each other about things in a loving tone that made me want to capture them. No smiles, no poses. Just them.
And I love that the evening was ours and that rain boots splashed and laughter was plentiful.
And I loved that Mom bribed them with a trip to target and then took it back a notch to “I’ll just buy you underwear if you don’t listen to her (me).”
And I love being a part of another family – if only to show them what I see for a few hours – because we can’t stop time. I can, however, capture it for them and give it right back.
XO.
