This weekend I had lots of girl time.
It comes with good food, inappropriate topics, lots of laughing, supporting one another, making fun of one another, loving one another.
The conversations are always fast, jump from place to place, and always FUNNY.
This weekend, the topic seemed to circle around friendship and it just stayed there.
We talked about how, at our age, it is nice to finally GET IT.
We can pick and choose who is good for us … nurturing the good and letting go of the bad.
That forgiveness is important but that tolerance of b.s. is short-lived.
That holding onto the ones that love you and you them is what it’s all about.
Quality and not quantity.
Popularity is overrated.
A high school lesson finally learned.
And I wonder, as Claire grows up, what I can do to make this lesson resonate a little earlier for her.
A lot earlier, hopefully.
(Is it just me or does it seem like fellas GET IT much sooner than girls?)
I have this quote written on my chalkboard right now:
“Keep a green tree in your heart perhaps a singing bird will find it.”
It’s how I feel right now.
Singing birds are finding me (and have found me LONG ago).
And for that I am so incredibly grateful.
I am such a lucky girl and count my blessings … my singing birds … near and far. Love you ALL.
